		It seems there is a miscommunication here. It seems that the question is built upon the idea that a drug might provide some kind of energy boost, or allow you to slip into some dimension in order to be able to perceive an inorganic being. Carlos used the little smoke simply to break his perceptual limits. The inorganic beings are there regardless of whether one can see them or not. Certainly, I would agree that the "little smoke" allowed Carlos to perceive energy and the afore mentioned beings. But he was in the company of a group of sorcerers. In other words, he had a posse to assist him in seeing and also to protect him. If one is simply taking a hallucinogen by themselves and is confronted by an inorganic being, what protection do you have? Ultimately, a warrior does not need any substance, and the overuse of something will only succeed in draining energy... not gaining. 
So I would agree with the original poster, that you put yourself in an unfavorable position.
