Carlos Castaneda supposedly died on April 27th, 1998. Not much is known about his death.

Tales of Power was published in 1975.

Now even is Castaneda died sometime before 98, it was indeed much later than 1975, as there is VIDEO footage of Castaneda in the 80 and 90's. Watch "Tales Of The Jungle" documentary. you can find it on google video or You Tube.

Whoever gave you this piece of information decieved you (or was decieved themselves). But I think the biggest deciever here is the person to themselves who believed this information without staring at the common sence facts staring us straight in the face. Wink

The only problem with this theory.....

Is that there are people such as Carlos x-wife Margaret and son CJ who have known Carlos since the 60's ( Margaret even knew Carlos in the 50's ) and both have seen Carlos over the years...the last time being in 1995.
They knew Carlos well....to believe the statement of a stranger making wild claims about Carlos is stupid.
Carlos did not die during Tales of Power. Do you think a fake Carlos then took over? and he fooled the many people who have known Carlos ( like Margaret & CJ ) ? RUBBISH!

Why are people quick to believe outlandish claims about Carlos without a shred of proof?

Just about everything claimed or stated at sustained action is a lie. Don't believe any of it. Those people there have their reasons to lie and mislead you.

The book by Amy Wallace is made up. Made up to cash in...to make money. Carlos never had sex with her or any other woman since the 60's...I know this for a fact.

IGNORE every single book written about Carlos of this knowledge by other authors....they are all fakes....all of them.

STICK to the books written by Carlos Castaneda.

YES!!!! Why let yourself be open to interpretations of original work? It's just like the different versions of the bible. Every author makes their own interpretation and people follow it. How fucked up is that!

Do you know how many times that i've been told that i'm close-minded after discussing (indirectly of course) the Path? No, i should read books about chi, tarot, alchemy, witchcraft, philosophy...I used to be into philosophy, but i realized that it was just weird to follow some dork's ideas when the directives of the Spirit were all that mattered. And Castaneda's books are a blueprint for most things on the Path. Sure, not everything is clear as we'd like it to be, his writing can be very abstract. Questions are answered in a non-direct way or turn into an answer to another question. Why respond to this in our usual fashion of having to know everything about what happened or why it happened. Why can't we just do? Why go to another author whose motives are suspicious? Are they warriors/seers/sorcerers? If you wanted to learn how to play the piano, would you go to law school?

You sound like an avid fan. I would not worry about that crap. Stop obsessing about the man and start living the teachings.

I feel that it is necessary to step outside the teachings from time to time in order to get our bearings and remember that this path is only one of an infinite amount of perspectives. Remember that CC's books are a chronicle of ONE mans quest for knowledge; his battles, his predilections, his shields. Don Juan, under the unction of the abstract molded his approach to fit CC. I believe in these books there is a blue print that we can all follow but ULTIMITLY it is the Spirit that leads us down our own path.

Hmmm....you contradict yourself there fartman. By stepping out of the teachings, you are stepping out of sync with the Spirit. There is only one path, one way...the Warrior's Way.Yes, it is true that we lead different lives, but fundamentally, we all have to do the same thing (recapping/tensegrity/stalking,etc...).

Why would you want to open yourself up to all the fucked up paths the world has to offer? Is that your definition of an open mind? To take your ideas from many disciplines, religions, philosophies and make them your own?

Dr. Castaneda's chronicles are one man's quest. And yet, is it not also the chronicle of Don Juan, Don Genaro, La Gorda, Pablito, Nestor, the Little Sisters, Taisha Abelar, Florinda, Carol Tiggs etc...?

Please, allow me to clarify myself. What I meant to say is that I find it most benificial to remind myself that this path is not for everybody, and that some people find their Path with Heart doing other things. One path can't be intrinsically better than the other (better for who)? That is just a facet of self-reflection. In addition when I read accounts of people's descriptions of the same phenomonea I see that ultimately we are dealing with SOME of the same things interpretated differently. Knowing that helps to loosen my inventory up.

When I began forging my path, like most people, I became obsessed with CC's life. I wanted (and still do to some extent) to re-create his life in a misguided attempt at reproducing his experiences. That's bullshitt. The way forward for me is in Intending, not thru dogmatical adherence. The basics are there, a path to Spirit. But who knows what awaites us once we become aware of It.

Oh and thanks for reminding myself what a smelly turd-fart I am.
I'm working on that ;

I read lots of other books besides Castaneda, for a few different reasons.

I wouldn't want to just read only Castaneda all the time and nothing else. That, for me, turns it into boring repetition. That and I feel that it helps to step outside of the books now and then in order to allow them some time to sink in even more deeply. Plus everything I read, listen to, watch or view is colored by the nagual. And so I am constantly linking things together, and at the same time seeing the unnecessary for what it is. In this way I'm able to find amazement in many many things.

I think another accurate way of putting it is to say that I look into other areas for a momentary distraction. It helps to break any obsessiveness I may be harboring.
