I can see what you're saying now. It seems to me that it would just be a matter of your own judgement. Don Juan would act like a senile old man and then in one second be back to his normal exuberant self. He knew what he was doing.

If you were to find some need to act like a jerk, in order to accomplish something specific, then only you can be the judge of whether or not that you are truly indifferent to the matter. Indifferent to the method, and indifferent to the outcome.
