I was reading just this morning something that said that the fact that normal, intelligent adults remain incapable of seeing the mess they are in is EVIDENCE of an occult influence. The author was talking, a little bit obliquely, about interference from "daimons" -- what we would call collectively inorganics, and more specifically and likely FLYERS.

Maybe it's a cop-out? Then again, maybe it's the only thing that makes sense.
